Paediatric First Aid

This two day course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants and fulfils the requirements for First Aid training in the Department for Education’s statutory frameworks for the Early Years Foundation Stage. This course would also be a great benefit to Parents and Grandparents etc.

Duration:
Total qualification time is 15 hours, with at least 12 hours guided learning in the classroom over a minimum of 2 days plus independent pre and post course study.

Syllabus:

  • A range of subjects are covered including:
  • Role of the Paediatric First Aider Seizure Diabetic emergencies
  • Primary survey Choking Asthma
  • CPR/AED Minor injuries Meningitis
  • Wounds, bleeding, and shock Recovery position Febrile convulsions
  • Allergic reactions and shock Fractures Extreme cold and heat
  • Head, neck, and back injuries Foreign bodies Electrical incidents

Certification:
This qualification is assessed both through practical demonstration and written assessment and a three year FAA level 3 award (level 6in Scotland) Paediatric First Aid certificate will be issued to those who satisfy the criteria.
